Windsor West Little League Kicks Off Season with Heartwarming Opening Day Ceremony

Windsor, ON – May 3, 2025

The spirit of community, baseball, and tradition was alive and well at Windsor West Little League’s Opening Day on Saturday, May 3rd, as players, families, and community leaders gathered to celebrate the beginning of another exciting season.

The ceremony was marked by a special moment of recognition for longtime supporters Mike Dugal, Brian Masse, and Councillor Fabio Costante, who were honoured during the opening ceremonies for their enduring contributions to the league and the Windsor West community.

Windsor West Little League boasts a proud and distinguished history in Canadian baseball, dating back decades — including connections to local legends. That legacy was celebrated with heartfelt thanks extended to the dedicated board members, coaches, volunteers, and of course, the young athletes who continue to make the league a cornerstone of the community.

A highlight of the Opening Day ceremony was the inspiring address by guest speaker Lith Webb, a celebrated figure in both local and international softball circles. Originally from Windsor, Ontario, Webb's illustrious career includes being a four-time Team Canada player and a member of the 1996 Canadian Women’s Olympic Softball Team. Her presence at the Opening Day ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the heights that dedication and community support can help young athletes achieve.

Opening Day 2025 was a moment to pause and celebrate the enduring community spirit and love of the game that makes Windsor West Little League such a special place for kids to grow, play, and make memories.

With the season now officially underway, the fields are alive with the sound of baseball once again — and the Windsor West tradition continues.
